ScreenPro Announces Covid-19 Testing Updates

The Company’s COVID-19 testing business continues to report frequent testing numbers and is expected to maintain the demand due to the rise in COVID-19 sub-variants and change in testing regulations for travel. The company continues to provide testing services to the film and production industry with new productions starting this month continuing into spring.

COVID-19 continues to burden Canadians as 21 cases of a new sub-variant of Omicron named “XBB.15” has been confirmed in Canada. The Public Health Agency says they will continue to cautiously monitor the spread of this new submerged variant. The threat of “XBB.15” has been deemed by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the most contagious COVID strain to date and has been detected in 29 countries. The Company expects this surge to increase the demand for testing.

According to WHO, the XBB.15 variant has been spreading rapidly throughout the U.S. and is now responsible for over 70 percent of new cases in the Northeastern U.S. Craig Jenne, an infectious disease specialist reports this new variant to be more infectious than previous mutations.

As new variants continue to evolve globally, especially in the People’s Republic of China, the Government of Canada has taken cautionary measures to protect the health and safety of Canadians. In response to the COVID-19 surge, the government of Canada announced a temporary negative COVID-19 test requirement for all travellers arriving from the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, or Macao. Any air travellers two years of age or older must present a negative COVID-19 test before departing for Canada starting January 5, 2023.

“The safety of travellers and the transportation industry remain top priorities. Our Government continues to take unprecedented action to protect the health and safety of Canadians by introducing measures to prevent further introduction and transmission of COVID-19 into Canada. We will adapt our measures based on available data, the science, and the epidemiological situation in our country and globally to protect Canadians” said The Honourable Marco Mendicino, Minister of Public Safety.

“ScreenPro prides itself in having the highest quality testing technology available to provide accurate, reliable and fast results. The World Health Organization deemed PCR testing as the most accurate available test to detect COVID and other mutations including Omicron and its sub-variants. With our rapid or standard COVID-19 testing and travel certifications, we are proud to help aid Canadians in their testing needs during this surge” said Andrew Ryu, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Company.
